Recruit decommits from Oklahoma after racist frat video surfaces

Four-star Oklahoma recruit Jean Delance, who pledged to the Sooners back in November, decommitted from the school on Monday, citing personal reasons.

Four-star 2016 Oklahoma recruit Jean Delance announced his decommitment from the school on Monday, citing personal reasons. 

Delance said his decision had "nothing to do with the staff or the team," and later tweeted that he just received an offer from Alabama. 

Delance's decommitment comes one day after a video appearing to show alleged Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity members at Oklahoma singing a racist chant and using a racial slur surfaced on social media.

Scout.com's Bob Przybylo spoke to Delance after his announcement and said Delance was "greatly impacted" by the video.

Delance later told Fox 4 Dallas-Fort Worth that the reason he decommitted was because he didn't like how he found out about the video from social media and television rather than from the Sooners' coaches. 

"I wasn't notified, I just had to find out on my own by a lot of TV," he said. "... I'm really not that excited about what's going on or how it's being handled. Really I'm disappointed at how late I was told about what's going on, that's my biggest problem."

The 6'5", 270-pound offensive tackle committed to Oklahoma back in November and visited the school and head coach Bob Stoops on Saturday.

Delance is ranked as the No. 12 offensive tackle in his class by Rivals and the No. 131 player nationally. He is a native of Mesquite, Texas.

Earlier this month, he tweeted about other offers he received, including from Missouri, Nebraska, Texas A&M and Oregon State. 

On Monday, Oklahoma defensive end Charles Tapper tweeted out a message to recruits about the situation.
