Friday August 7th, 2015

After an 11–2 season that ended in a Cotton Bowl loss to Michigan State, Baylor kicks off its 2015 campaign with a Friday night game at SMU on Sept. 4.

The Bears just missed out on the College Football Playoff last year, coming in at No. 5 in the final rankings with an 11–1 record.

Quarterback Bryce Petty is off to the NFL after leading a Baylor offense that ranked No. 4 in the FBS for total yards (7,559) and passing yards per game (365.9). Junior Seth Russell is set to take the snaps this year after appearing in eight games in 2014, and 410-pound lineman LaQuan McGowan has moved to tight end.

Defensively, the Bears ranked No. 37 for total yards allowed last season and No. 43 for average points per game allowed. Defensive end Shawn Oakman returns and is expected to be a top 2016 NFL draft prospect.
