Marshall scored a big win Sunday, taking down Purdue 41-31.

The star of the game was cornerback Tiquan Lang, who propelled the Thundering Herd to victory. Lang recorded 17 tackles and two interceptions, both of which he returned for a touchdown.

Boilermakers quarterback Austin Appleby had a game to forget, throwing four interceptions in 48 pass attempts.

It was the first home win for Marshall over a major conference team since 2005. And it wouldn't have been possible without Lang.

He started the game with a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown on the game's first play. Then, with Purdue driving down only a field goal, Lang sealed the win for the Thundering Herd with a 55-yard pick-six with just over a minute remaining.

Marshall's next game is Sept. 12 at Ohio. Purdue will try to rebound from the loss against Indiana State on the same day.
