The No. 7 Michigan State Spartans (6–0) will meet in-state rival No. 12 Michigan Wolverines (5–1) at the Big House in Ann Arbor on Saturday in the battle for the Paul Bunyan Trophy.

Michigan leads the all-time head-to-head series with a 35–25–2 record over Michigan State. The Spartans have won the matchup in five of the last six years. Their last loss came against a No. 23 ranked Wolverines team in 2012 while the Spartans were unranked.

Michigan State has upended its opponents by at least a 14-point margin in five of their last seven victories with the only exception being last weekend’s 31–24 victory over Rutgers. Freshman running back L.J. Scott scored on a 3-yard run with 43 seconds to play to help avoid the upset.

Michigan has shut out its last three opponents with victories over BYU, Maryland and Northwestern. The Wolverines have the No. 1 scoring defense in the country.
