Tulane is reportedly expected to fire head coach Curtis Johnson after Friday’s season finale against Tulsa and may consider former Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan for the job, according to NBC New Orleans' Fletcher Mackel.
In four seasons at Tulane, the Green Wave are 15-33 with Johnson at the helm. Tulane also looks to replace athletic director Rick Dickson, who announced he would retire next May.
Ryan has not coached at the collegiate level since his days as the Oklahoma State Cowboys defensive coordinator from 1997 to 1999. He coached at Western Kentucky, Ohio State, Tennessee State and Hutchinson Community College before spending the remainder of his career in the NFL.
The Saints fired Ryan on Nov. 16. He was in the fourth year of coaching the Saints as New Orleans' defense is allowing a league-worst 31.5 points per game this season and a league-high 6.7 yards per play.
