Lenoir-Rhyne secondary coach and special teams coach Mayur Chaudhari will be the new special teams coordinator for Hawaii coach Nick Rolovich, according to a source.

This past season was Chaudhari's second in his positions at Lenoir-Rhyne. He was also the program's recruiting coordinator in 2014.

Chaudhari replaces former Hawaii special teams coordinator and tights ends coach Jake Cookus, who earlier this month returned to his alma mater, Oregon State, as a special teams analyst.

Before Chaudhari's two seasons at Lenoir-Rhyne, he was safeties coach at Army and the program's head junior varsity coach for a year. He was the Army Prep School's secondary coach, wide receivers coach and special teams coordinator from 2011–12.

Chaudhari was Virginia Military Institute's safeties and nickels coach in 2010 after two seasons as a graduate assistant at San Jose State. He was UC-Davis's linebackers coach in ’07, an assistant to Stanford's defensive staff in ’06 and Menlo College's running backs coach and returns coach in ’05.

He was an offensive assistant at UC-Davis from 1998–2001, working with running backs, tight ends and assisting the offensive coordinator with the offensive line. He started his coaching career in 1994 as a junior varsity assistant at Independence High in San Jose, Calif.

Hawaii had a 3–10 record this past season, including an 0–8 mark in the Mountain West. Rolovich was hired on Nov. 27 to replace Norm Chow, who was fired in early November after a 2–7 start.

The 37-year-old Rolovich, considered one of college football’s top young offensive minds, spent the last four seasons as Nevada's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Rolovich was a Hawaii assistant from 2008–11. He spent the first two years as quarterbacks coach before adding offensive coordinator duties as well.

He played quarterback for the Rainbow Warriors from 2000–01, passing for 4,176 yards with 40 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 14 games. He was also a student assistant at Hawaii from 2003–04 and played in NFL Europe and the Arena Football League.
