Michael Sam confirms he got engaged to his boyfriend

TMZ reported last week that Michael Sam and his boyfriend were engaged to be married, and now Sam has confirmed the news in a tweet. 

Sam posted a photo on Twitter of him popping the question to his boyfriend, Vito Cammisano, high above St. Peter's Square in Vatican City.

Last spring, after Sam became the first openly gay player drafted by a major American pro sports team, ESPN's camera's famously showed him kissing Cammisano. 

Sam was cut by the Rams after training camp and spent much of the season on the Cowboys' practice squad before they released him, too.
