Seahawks' WR Doug Baldwin refutes his own team's Twitter account

Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin disagrees with his own team about what Seattle is playing for on Sunday.

Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin apparently disagrees with his own team about what Seattle is playing for on Sunday.

The Seahawks' official Twitter account Sunday morning tweeted fairly benign pump-up PR, "Today we play for the George Halas Trophy" above a weathered image of quarterback Russell Wilson putting on eye black.

But 18 minutes later, the team received this little charmer in its mentions column.

The team rolled with the unexpected response, writing back to the public to explain Baldwin is simply in hardcore championship mindset, followed by something about brotherly love.

Technically speaking, both Baldwin and the Seahawks are correct. Seattle will in fact play for its second straight George Halas Trophy Sunday afternoon when it takes on the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship at 3:00 pm on Fox.

Baldwin's quip had well over 1,000 retweets as the two teams neared kick off on Sunday, proving there's nothing like a little internecine controversy to stir up the troops on game day.
