John Oliver knows how he's celebrating Sepp Blatter's resignation

Just two days after he pleaded to FIFA's sponsors to "please make Sepp Blatter go away," John Oliver got his wish.

In a shocking move, Blatter resigned as FIFA president on Tuesday, just four days after he was re-elected to a fifth term. He resigns amid a FIFA corruption scandal that has resulted in several top officials being indicted.

In his Sunday segment on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Oliver had said that “all the arrests in the world are going to change nothing” if Blatter, who he called “the Swiss demon who has ruined the sport I love,” is still in office.

He then made a plea to FIFA's main sponsors, such as McDonald's, adidas and Budweiser, calling for them to use their financial power to get rid of Blatter.

“I will do anything ... I will even make the ultimate sacrifice,” said Oliver. “Budweiser, if you pull your support and help get rid of Blatter, I will put my mouth where my mouth is and I will personally drink one of your disgusting items.”

Oliver's wish came true on Tuesday, and even if it didn't actually occur as a result of pressure from Budweiser or other sponsors, he was so happy he was still willing to honor his end of the bargain.
