Watch: A rugby player proposed to his girlfriend on the field after his game
Romania lost to Ireland at the Rugby World Cup but scrum-half Florin Surugiu is going home a happy man.
After the final whistle, Surugiu’s teammates gathered on the field and acted like they were going to take a team photo. Instead, the team formed the backdrop when Surugiu called his girlfriend on the field and asked her to marry him.

Here’s another angle, with confirmation that she actually said yes.
The Romanian coach actually tried to dissuade Surugiu from making such a grand gesture.
“I tried to advise him not to,” coach Lynn Howells told reporters afterwards. “It’s probably too romantic for me but I’m sure for her it was very romantic.”
Surugiu and his girlfriend, Alexandra, are planning to get married next year.
