Daniel Bryan may soon be able to return to the ring for the WWE soon as The Wrestling Observer newsletter recently reported that the former heavyweight champion had been cleared to compete after suffering a concussion in April.

The most recent evaluation was done at UCLA, where doctors gave him permission to resume wrestling. Bryan will still have to be cleared by the WWE’s concussion protocol, which has kept him out of the ring since he suffered the injury during a six-man tag match while on a European tour with the pro wrestling outfit.

While fans may be excited at the prospect of Bryan returning in time for this weekend’s Royal Rumble, it should be noted that Bryan was also cleared by a doctor to begin wrestling again back in July but the WWE has kept the fan favorite out of competition until now.
