The wife of Oklahoma City Thunder assistant Monty Williams, Ingrid, died Wednesday after suffering injuries during an automobile accident on Tuesday night in Oklahoma City, the team announced.

Williams, 44, was involved in the accident after she was hit by a woman who crossed over the center lane. The mother of five was taken to OU Medical Center where she was treated for life-threatening injuries before dying, The Oklahomanreported.

“The Thunder organization has heavy hearts tonight with the news of Ingrid's passing,” the Thunder said in a statement. “Words cannot adequately describe how deep our sorrow is for the loss of Monty’s wife. Our thoughts and prayers are with Monty and his family, and we will support him in any way possible. We know the entire community of Oklahoma City has them in their prayers.”

Monty Williams was the head coach of the New Orleans Hornets, and later the Pelicans, from 2010–15 before joining Billy Donovan’s staff in Oklahoma City.
