Report: San Jose Police Department suspends off-duty work with 49ers
The San Jose Police Department has suspended all off-duty work with the 49ers amid allegations of possible police interference in the Ray McDonald domestic violence case, Robert Salonga of the San Jose Mercury News reported on Friday.
McDonald allegedly called a San Jose police officer, who works security at 49ers games, around the same time a 911 call was placed the night McDonald was arrested, and the officer, Sgt. Sean Pritchard, reportedly arrived on the scene before other law enforcement.

"We feel that is in our best interest to suspend all San Francisco 49er secondary employment related assignments until further notice," police chief Larry Esquivel wrote in an internal police statement obtained by the Mercury News.
The police department, which had 17 officers employed as off-duty security detail for the 49ers, declined to comment further to the newspaper on Friday.
McDonald, a defensive end, hasn't missed a game this season despite the arrest and has 14 tackles for San Francisco (3-2). He was arrested at his 30th birthday party at his home on Aug. 31 on suspicion of felony domestic violence against his pregnant fiancée.
The 49ers play the Rams (1-3) in an NFC West matchup in St. Louis on Monday night.
