Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring in Saturday’s derby between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, and then he scored again, and then he scored again.

The Portuguese star struck first with a free kick that deflected through the wall and landed in the corner of the net.

Ronaldo powered a shot midway through the first half (22nd minute) that appeared to deflect off of teammate Raphael Varane and fooled keeper Jan Oblak with the unpredictable bounce. Watch it below.

A 70th minute penalty solidified the 2–0 lead.

And he all but put it away shortly after.

Madrid entered Saturday with 27 points, leading La Liga. Atletico sat fifth with 21 points, one short of a top four place.
