In May of 2006, Zinedine Zidane scored in his final match for Real Madrid. Ten years later, the Zidane name made a scoring return to the Real Madrid team.

Enzo Zidane (also known as Enzo Fernandez or simply Enzo), the 21-year-old son of the Real Madrid legend-turned-manager, was handed his debut as a halftime sub in a Copa Del Rey match against third-tier Cultural Leonesa on Wednesday. He made it count, scoring Real Madrid's fourth goal of the match on his first career shot in the 63rd minute.

Real Madrid would go on to win the match 6–1, advancing to the last 16 on an overwhelming 13-2 aggregate.

The goal marks a neat bit of history not just for Los Merengues, but for the soccer world as a whole; While the elder Zidane scored on the final shot of his club career, his son scored on his very first. Enzo come up through the Real Madrid youth academy, and was vice-captain of the reserve team last season before training regularly with the first team for this campaign. His father also got his start in coaching with Real Madrid, managing the club's reserve team before being promoted to senior team manager last season.

The goal wasn't the only "like father, like son" moment in Enzo's debut, with Enzo pulling off a very Zinedine-like turn on the touchline (though with slightly less-successful results):

"If I take my coaches' hat off, I'm happy for my son. I must also say that, as his coach, I'm happy with him too," the elder Zidane said following the game. "But not just with him, I'm pleased with all of the players because they did a good job. When we get home I'll speak to him, but as their coach, I'm happy with them all".

It isn't known yet if Enzo will follow in his father's footsteps internationally; he is eligible to play for France (via his father), Spain (via his mother), or Algeria (via his grandparents), and has played for the U-19 teams of both France and Spain. But that is likely a question for another time.
