We took another step back in my betting $100 a day challenge on Wednesday night, going 1-2 for a loss of $43.45. Thankfully, we got some luck in Oklahoma vs. Colorado with the game going to overtime to hit the OVER.

We move on to Thursday night's action, including another two bets in tonight's College Basketball Crown slate. I have four overall picks for Thursday's sports betting action, so let's dive into them.

Betting $100 a Day Every Day for a Year Record

  • Yesterday: 1-2 (-$43.45)
  • YTD: 159-178-1 (-$268.79)

My Best Bets Today

Rutgers vs. Creighton Prediction

Pick: $30 on Creighton -4 (-110)

I can't trust Rutgers in this spot based on its shooting alone. The Scarlet Knights rank 326th in effective field goal percentage at 47.5%, making them one of the worst shooting teams in all of college basketball. By comparison, Creighton ranks inside the top 100 in shooting, with an eFG% of 53.1%.

Rutgers doesn't make up for its poor shooting with strong defensive play either. The Scarlet Knights rank 260th in defensive efficiency, below Creighton, which comes in at 213th.

With poor shooting and subpar defense, I can't see Rutgers' path to victory.

Stanford vs. West Virginia Prediction

Pick: $20 on West Virginia +100

West Virginia comes from the Big 12, a much stronger conference this season compared to the ACC. They also had a dominant defense at times, ranking 28th in the country in defensive efficiency. That's an area they have a big advantage in over Stanford, which ranks 138th in that metric.

That's enough for me to back the Mountaineers as slight underdogs on Thursday night.

Maple Leafs vs. Sharks Prediction

Pick: $30 on Sharks -120

Despite the Maple Leafs finding ways to win games as soon as they're effectively eliminated from the playoffs, I'm going to continue to bet against them. Their underlying metrics are horrific and have no business being just +100 underdogs on the road in a West Coast game against a young and energetic Sharks team.

Since the Olympic break, the Maple Leafs rank last in CORSI%, 31st in FENWICK%, and 31st in expected goals percentage. Let's go ahead and fade them once again tonight.

Capitals vs. Devils Prediction

Pick: $20 on Devils -110

The Devils are currently on the outside of the playoffs looking in, but I can't ignore a lot of their strong numbers since the Olympic break. In that time frame, they're second in expected goals percentage, well above the Washington Capitals, who rank 24th in that metric in the same time frame. Despite that, New Jersey's odds are set at a pick'em on its home ice tonight.
