The Washington Commanders and Detroit Lions are set to face each other in a Week 2 preseason duel between two teams that are hoping to bounce back after disappointing 2025 seasons.

The Commanders crushed the Dolphins 20-7 in their first preseason game, while the Lions came up short to the Bengals, losing 16-14.

Let's dive into the odds and my best bet for Saturday's exhibition showdown.

Commanders vs. Lions Odds, Spread, and Total for Preseason Week 2

Odds via DraftKings Sportsbook

Spread

  • Commanders +1.5 (-110)
  • Lions -1.5 (-110)

Moneyline

  • Commanders +110
  • Lions -130

Total

  • OVER 36.5 (-115)
  • UNDER 36.5 (-105)

Commanders vs. Lions How to Watch Preseason Week 2

  • Date: Saturday, August 22
  • Time: Noon ET
  • Venue: Ford Field
  • How to Watch (TV): Lions TV Network, WUSA9
  • Commanders record: 1-0
  • Lions record: 0-1

Commanders vs. Lions Betting Trends

  • Dan Quinn is 8-20 straight up and 8-19-1 against the spread as a head coach in the preseason
  • Dan Campbell is 6-11 straight up and 8-9 against the spread as a head coach in the preseason

Commanders vs. Lions Key Player to Watch

  • Jacob Saylors, RB - Detroit Lions

There's an opening on the Lions' depth chart for the No. 2 running back spot behind Jahmyr Gibbs with David Montgomery now in Houston. Their second-year running back, Jacob Saylors, made a great impression in their first preseason game, rushing for 55 yards on eight carries. Will he be able to expand his role in the regular season beyond being just a special teams player?

Commanders vs. Lions Prediction and Best Bet

Despite the Commanders' Week 1 win, I can't get past Dan Quinn's record as a head coach in the preseason throughout his career. Meanwhile, I can look past the Lions' Week 1 loss, considering they played none of their starters.

Starters are expected to play at least a portion of this Week 2 game on Saturday, so I'm going to give the edge to the Lions, who managed to cover the spread playing only backups last week.

Pick: Lions -1.5 (-110) via DraftKings
