Dream vs. Sparks Prediction, Odds, Best WNBA Prop Bet for Monday, Aug. 24

In this story:
Rhyne Howard and the Atlanta Dream are making a serious push for a top-two seed in the WNBA this season, as they’ve won seven of their last 10 games and are just 1.5 games back of the Golden State Valkyries (the current No. 2 seed) entering Monday’s action.
The Dream are on the road against the Los Angeles Sparks on Aug. 24, a team that they dominated earlier this month. Back on Aug. 20, the Dream scored 124 points in a 36-point win over L.A. – the second time this season they cracked triple digits against Los Angeles.
That shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, as the Sparks are 13th in the WNBA in defensive rating while Atlanta is a top-five team in offensive rating.
Still, Howard, Allisha Gray, Angel Reese and Co. turned in one of the best offensive showings of the season in that win. Now, they’ll look to continue their hot stretch as 9.5-point road favorites on Monday.
The Sparks (13-24) have been eliminated from playoff contention, and they signaled that this was a lost season when they moved on from All-Star guard Kelsey Plum at the trade deadline. Will L.A. be able to put up a fight on Monday?
Let’s take a look at the odds, a player prop to bet and my prediction for this interconference clash.

Dream vs. Sparks Best WNBA Prop Bets
Dream Best WNBA Prop Bet
- Rhyne Howard OVER 18.5 Points (-124)
A four-time All-Star, Howard has really picked things up as of late, scoring 19 or more points in eight of her last nine games to push her season average to 18.2 points per game.
The star guard has at least 17 points in every game during that nine-game stretch, averaging 22.0 points per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the field and 44.3 percent from 3. On top of that, Howard had 26 points and five made 3-pointers in the Aug. 20 win over Los Angeles.
This Sparks team has been awful defensively all season long, allowing the second-most points per game in the WNBA.
So, I don’t mind betting on Howard to stay hot on Monday night.
Dream vs. Sparks Prediction and Pick
Earlier today, I shared in my WNBA Best Bets column – Peter’s Points – why I’m taking the Dream in a moneyline parlay with Minnesota:
The Dream faced the Sparks in Los Angeles on Thursday, blowing them out by 36 points (124-88) to continue their run up the standings. Now, the No. 4 seed in the W, Atlanta is just 1.5 games out of the No. 2 seed with seven games to play in the regular season.
Meanwhile, the Sparks are eliminated from the playoffs and have slipped to six games under .500 at home. Overall, Los Angeles is 12th in the WNBA in net rating and 13th in defensive rating, which simply won’t cut it against a Dream squad that ranks in the top five in net, offensive and defensive rating this season.
The Dream are also 2-0 against the Sparks this season and have scored over 100 points in both meetings. They should be able to win this matchup rather easily on Monday.
I also like the Dream to cover in this matchup, even on the road. The Sparks are just 6-12 straight up at home and 4-6 against the spread when set as home underdogs. Plus, they didn’t even compete in the 36-point home loss to Atlanta earlier this month.
The Dream are under .500 against the spread when favored on the road (8-9), but they are clearly the better team this season. I wouldn’t be shocked if they earned yet another blowout win as they make a push for a top-three seed in the W.
Pick: Dream -9.5 (-110 at DraftKings)
