Can Texas win as a road favorite?

The Texas Rangers have hung on to the final wild card spot in the American League and are in play to win the AL West.

Texas picked up a win over the Los Angeles Angels on Monday and is sitting just 0.5 games back of the Houston Astros in the division.

Now, Texas is favored on the road on Tuesday night with Cody Bradford set to make his second appearance of the season. An elbow injury cost Bradford most of the campaign, but he’s coming off 4.1 scoreless innings earlier this month and should be in position to earn another win against Angels right-hander Ryan Johnson.

So far this season, Johnson has appeared in 13 games (10 starts) and posted a subpar 7.11 ERA.

Here’s a breakdown of the odds, a player prop to bet and my prediction for this AL West showdown on Tuesday night.

Rangers vs. Angels Best MLB Prop Bets

Rangers Best MLB Prop Bet

  • Joc Pederson to Hit a Home Run (+239)

Earlier today, I shared in SI Betting’s best home run picks column – Daily Dinger – why Pederson is a great bet against a struggling righty:

Texas Rangers slugger Joc Pederson basically only plays against right-handed pitching, but he is dominant in his role.

Pederson has 21 home runs in the 2026 campaign, and he’s hitting .258 with an .850 OPS and 20 homers against righties. In fact, Pederson only has 31 plate appearances against lefties in 2026.

So, I don’t mind taking him to go deep against Los Angeles Angels righty Ryan Johnson on Tuesday night.

Johnson has a 7.11 ERA this season and has given up 13 home runs in as many appearances. Over his last four weeks (19 games, 15 starts), Pederson is hitting .305 with six home runs and 10 runs batted in.

Rangers vs. Angels Prediction and Pick

Bradford has only made one appearance this season after recovering from an elbow injury, but he didn’t allow a run across 4.1 innings in that start.

Texas’ bullpen (4.22 ERA) has been pretty average this season, but there’s no doubt that the Rangers have the better all-around staff in this matchup. Johnson (7.11 ERA) has struggled a ton in 2026, and the Angels have a worse bullpen ERA (4.40) than Texas.

After the Rangers picked up a 4-1 win on Monday, I wouldn’t be shocked if it takes Game 2 as well. The Angels are now nine games under .500 on the road this season, and they’re 3-7 when Johnson is the starter.

The young righty hasn’t done enough (fifth percentile in expected ERA, 15th percentile in expected BAA) for bettors to target the Angels as an underdog tonight.

Pick: Rangers Moneyline (-137 at DraftKings)
