The Tampa Bay Rays hit the road for a three-game set against the Baltimore Orioles starting on Friday night.

The Rays went just 2-5 on their homestand, including losing three of four to these Orioles. Baltimore returned home after that, though, and got swept by the Yankees.

Here are the odds, probable pitchers, and predictions for Rays vs. Orioles on Friday, Aug. 21.

Rays vs. Orioles Probable Pitchers

  • Orioles: Trevor Rogers (8-8, 4.15 ERA)

Freddy Peralta allowed two runs on one hit with three walks in 4.2 innings against the Orioles last time out. He had thrown a quality start in Sacramento before that.

Trevor Rogers allowed two runs on seven hits with one walk in six innings against the Rays in his last start. It was his third straight outing with two runs allowed.

Rays vs. Orioles Best MLB Prop Bets

Orioles Best MLB Prop Bet

  • Pete Alonso OVER 1.5 Bases (+119)

Pete Alonso extended his hitting streak to a dozen games with a pair of singles last night against the Yankees. He’s 22 for 46 (.478) in that span with two doubles and six home runs.

Alonso has gone OVER 1.5 bases in eight of his last nine games – including all four in Tampa Bay last weekend – and 10 of 12 contests during this streak.

Rays vs. Orioles Prediction and Pick

I broke down this pick in SI Betting’s daily MLB best bets column, Walk-Off Wagers:

Fading the Orioles has worked out well recently as Baltimore has now lost four in a row after getting swept by the Yankees. It doesn’t get much easier with the Rays coming to town this weekend.

Tampa Bay is going to be looking for some revenge after losing three of four to the O’s last week. Three of those games were decided by one run, with the O’s getting a 10-2 win in the other.

Freddy Peralta pitched well enough in that blowout loss, allowing two runs on one hit and three walks in 4.2  innings, and he’s starting to settle in down in Tampa.

This could very well be another close game, but I think there’s value on the better team as road underdogs tonight.

Pick: Rays +111
