Prompted by ESPN's Sarah Spain, some people are choosing to donate the money they would have spent on the Mayweather–Pacquiao fight to different domestic violence organizations.

Mayweather has been involved in seven domestic abuse cases against five women that have resulted in arrests or citations, according to a report from Deadspin. In 2011, he served two months of a three-month sentence after pleading guilty to domestic violence charges involving a former girlfriend.

Police have also been called in other situations in which charges were not filed. In a Sept. 9, 2010, incident, Mayweather struck the mother of three of his four children. His son, Koraun, was 10 years old at the time and detailed his account of the incident in a statement to police.
