UConn announced Tuesday that X-rays on the ankle of guard Ryan Boatright came back negative
Boatright has been diagnosed with a sprained ankle. It's unknown if he'll be ready to play in the Huskies' next game Friday against Yale.
The senior injured his ankle during UConn's 55-54 loss to Texas last Sunday and aggravated the injury while attempting to defend Texas forward Jonathan Holmes' game-winning shot. Boatright didn't participate in practice Tuesday and was wearing a walking boot.
Boatright, picked by an AAC coaches' poll as the preseason conference player of the year, is averaging 20.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and four assists per game this season.
Two fellow guards have also been dealing with injuries. Rodney Purvis missed the game against Texas due to a high ankle sprain and did light shooting in practice Tuesday. Omar Calhoun hasn't played this season after spraining his knee in October but should return to practice Wednesday or Thursday.
UConn dropped to 3-2 with the loss to Texas.
