Wake Forest guard Mitchell Wilbekin has been suspended for as many as six games for violating NCAA rules, the school announced on Saturday.

Over 10 games this season, WIlbekin, the younger brother of former Florida point guard Scottie Wilbekin, is averaging 7.6 points and 1.8 assists in 24 minutes per game.

In a statement, athletic director Ron Wellman said the school will appeal the suspension.

"We believe in Mitchell Wilbekin," Wellman said. "We do not agree with the length of the penalty or the violation, and we will be appealing the suspension with the NCAA."

Wake Forest also said that freshmen Cornelius Hudson and Rondale Watson are being held out of Saturday's game against Florida because of conduct detrimental to the team.

The Demon Deacons are 5-5 this season.
