North Carolina forward J.P. Tokoto is declaring for the NBA draft after his junior season.
Tokoto averaged 8.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 29.1 minutes per game this season for the Tar Heels, who lost to Wisconsin in the Sweet 16.
[daily_cut.college basketball]A 6'5", 200-pound forward, Tokoto also averaged 1.5 steals this season, one year after he made the All-ACC defensive team as a sophomore by averaging 1.6 steals per game.
Tokoto told Yahoo Sports that he will not sign with an agent initially, allowing him to still be able to withdraw from the draft before April 26.
"Going in, I know I’m not a first-round pick," Tokoto told Yahoo Sports. "I know my jumper needs work, and I'm putting in that work now – and will keep doing it. My jumper is something that has me as a second-round pick right now, but I have a mindset of work to improve the form and range of my shot."
As a three-year starter over 107 games at North Carolina, Tokoto averaged 6.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.2 steals.
UNC finished 26-12 and ranked No. 12 in the final USA Today Coaches Poll of the season.
