Five-star small forward V.J. King commits to Louisville

Friday June 12th, 2015

V.J. King, one of the top high school prospects in the country, announced on Friday that he has committed to Louisville.

King, who also drew scholarship offers from Arizona, UCLA and Ohio State, among other programs, is the No. 11 prospect in the class of 2016, according to

He transferred from St. Vincent-St. Mary (Ohio) to Paul VI Catholic (Va.) High last summer.

Over 14 games with Team Takeover on the Elite Youth Basketball League circuit this year, King has averaged 14.2 points and 5.2 rebounds while shooting 49.4 percent from the field.

The 6'7'' small forward took official visits to Louisville and UConn this spring.

“I think probably the main reason I picked that school was the conference,” King told “I’ve always wanted to play in the ACC, the top conference in the country. Plus with the roster they have, I fit right into that system. They have a bunch of bigs and guards and not really that scoring factor and I can fit that.”

King is the first player in the class of 2016 to commit to Louisville.

The Cardinals' 2015 recruiting class features three top-70 recruits in Donovan Mitchell, Deng Adel and Raymond Spalding.
