Northern Iowa punched its ticket to the NCAA tournament thanks to a game-winning shot from senior guard Wes Washpun in the Missouri Valley Conference tournament final against Evansville.

Northern Iowa punched its ticket to the NCAA tournament thanks to a game-winning shot from senior guard Wes Washpun in the Missouri Valley Conference tournament final against Evansville.

With the score tied at 54, Washpun executed a crossover to his right that left him with a clear shot from just inside the three-point line. The shot then bounced off the back of the rim and straight into the air, before falling through the hoop as the buzzer sounded.

Northern Iowa (21–12) entered the MVC tournament as the No. 4 seed after going 11–7 in conference play. The Panthers also knocked off Wichita State, which will could earn an at-large bid into the tournament, in the semifinal Saturday.
