Duke guard Brandon Ingram has declared for the NBA draft, he announced Monday in an essay for The Players’ Tribune.

Ingram played only one season with the Blue Devils, averaging 17.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.

“On one hand, one year at Duke isn’t a very long time. I know that,” Ingram wrote in his essay. “But I’ve done a lot of growing, and growing up, in that time.”

Ingram, along with Ben Simmons, is considered one of the top prospects for the upcoming NBA draft. SI’s Andrew Sharp has Ingram going No. 1 overall in his mock draft.

“[Ingram is] a much better scorer than Ben Simmons, he’s a more fluid athlete, and given his freakish length, he should turn into a better defender,” Sharp wrote. “Ingram’s not the choice because his fit in the NBA is simpler than Simmons. It’s not because of how the NBA is played now, or how valuable wings are. He’s just a better prospect.”
