Graduate transfer Canyon Barry will play for Florida next season, he announced Monday on Twitter.

ESPN’s Jeff Goodman first reported the news.

Barry, a guard, previously played for the College of Charleston, where he averaged 19.7 points per game last season as a redshirt junior.

“I really like Coach [Mike] White, his integrity, his honesty with me, and his style of play,” Barry said in a statement. “He and I both feel that I can make an immediate contribution on the court and help the team chase the goals of winning an SEC Championship and getting to the NCAA tournament next season.”

Barry, who chose Florida over Kansas, Ole Miss, Northwestern and Miami, is the son of NBA Hall of Famer Rick Barry.
