UConn momen are No. 1 in AP Preseason Poll

The Connecticut women's basketball team is in familiar territory being ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press Top 25 preseason poll.

The Huskies were a unanimous selection in the poll, receiving all 32 first-place votes from the nation's sportswriters.

UConn is expected to win their 12th national championship and are loaded, returning star players Katie Lou Samuelson and Napheesa Collier, along with Gabby Williams and Kia Nurse.

The Huskies also have the nation's top recruit in Megan Walker and added Duke transfer Azurá Stevens.

Texas is No. 2, followed by Big 12 rival Baylor. Defending national champion South Carolina comes in at No. 4, with Ohio State at No. 5 and Notre Dame sixth.

Mississippi State, who broke UConn's record 111-game winning streak in the national semifinal, is 7th, with UCLA, Louisville and Stanford rounding out the Top 10.
