After a summer filled with bated breath, crossed fingers and the prevailing sense that you just have to believe, the College Football Playoff debuted the College Football Playoff Championship Trophy on Monday in Irving, Texas. The name might need a little bit of work, but it says exactly what it is: a trophy awarded to the champion of the College Football Playoff.
Look, the trophy could be a pet rock and it would still be exciting because of what it represents. We made it. There is a real-life playoff in college football now. The fact that it's relatively understated and kind of resembles a waffle cone (and waffle cones are delicious), well, that's just a bonus. This is not a crystal football, but crystal footballs tend to be pretty breakable and expensive.
