TCU's Devonte Fields to transfer to Stephen F. Austin

Former TCU defensive end Devonte Fields announced via Twitter that he is transferring to Stephen F. Austin.
Stephen F. Austin is a Football Championship Subdivision school, so Fields will be immediately eligible to play this season.
Fields, who was the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year as a freshman and the preseason Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year this season, was "separated" from TCU after being accused of assaulting an ex-girlfriend last month.
Fields surrendered to authorities days later after a misdemeanor assault warrant was served. He only played in two games last season because of suspensions and a foot injury.
A TCU spokesman could not confirm Fields' transfer to SFA, but said that Fields "remains separated from TCU."

The Horned Frogs starts their season Aug. 30 against Samford. Stephen F. Austin plays on the same day at Kansas State.
