Florida State wide receiver Isaiah Jones was declared academically ineligible on Saturday, head coach Jimbo Fisher said in an Associated Press report.

The 6-foot-4 sophomore can't play in games but can still practice with the team and will still attend the school as a student. He caught two passes for 31 yards in five games in 2013. In a spring game in April for the Seminoles' Gold squad, he had five receptions for 81 yards.

Jones, the tallest receiver on the roster, was expected to compete for a starting role after FSU lost senior Kenny Shaw and Kelvin Benjamin entered the NFL draft early.
