South Carolina's Mike Davis 'sort of doubtful' for East Carolina game

Monday September 1st, 2014

South Carolina running back Mike Davis is "sort of doubtful" for Saturday's game against East Carolina because of bruised ribs, coach Steve Spurrier said to the The State.

Davis re-injured his ribs in a 52-28 loss to Texas A&M on Thursday.

The junior running back missed portions of fall camp with hamstring and rib injuries. Spurrier said Davis would be re-evaluated later this week.

“It’s painful for him right now,” Spurrier said.

Davis, who was named to the Doak Walker watch list, had only six carries for 15 yards against Texas A&M. He rushed for 1,183 yards last season.

Spurrier said redshirt junior Brandon Wilds will “probably” start if Davis doesn't play.
