Thursday September 4th, 2014

Starting right tackle Jacob Gannon has left Iowa State for "personal reasons" team spokesman Mike Green told reporters Thursday.

Bobby La Gesse of the Ames Tribune reports that former ISU offensive lineman Zach Spears said Gannon quit the team because he is “burned out."

Gannon started 13 games for Iowa State, including the Cyclones' season opener against North Dakota State last Saturday. NDSU won, 34-14.

Iowa State lost backup center Ben Loth for the season after he injured his knee on Iowa State's first day of camp. Cyclones receiver Quenton Bundrage tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) last Saturday and is out for the season as well.

According to La Gesse, redshirt freshman Jake Campos will likely take over at right guard. Iowa State plays No. 20 Kansas State on Saturday.
