SMU starting quarterback Neal Burcham will miss the rest of the season due to an elbow injury.
The news on Burcham comes just one day after Mustangs head coach June Jones announced he is resigning from the position.
Burcham, a sophomore, threw for 158 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions in two games, and left SMU's 43-6 loss to North Texas after sustaining the injury. Redshirt freshman Kolney Cassel took the majority of the snaps in his place, and threw for 134 yards and one touchdown.
The Mustangs are 0-2 and have a bye this week. They next play No. 7 Texas A&M on Sept. 20.
