Jameis Winston's family advisor, attorney David Cornwell, wrote on Twitter Tuesday that Winston will cooperate with Florida State's Title IX investigation into Winston's alleged sexual assault.

Allegations that Winston sexually assaulted a woman in December 2012 first surfaced last November. Winston has denied the allegations. An attorney for Winston's accuser has questioned the integrity of the investigation.

Earlier this month, Florida State announced it would open a Title IX inquiry into the handling of the school's initial investigation of the allegations.

A report from The New York Times in April outlined various mistakes made by Tallahassee police and university officials during the initial investigation.

Winston, the 2013 Heisman Trophy winner, was suspended for Florida State's game last Saturday against Clemson after many students reported he shouted an obscene sexual phrase in the student union.

Cornwell previously represented NFL players Donte' Stallworth and Ben Roethlisberger in their disciplinary proceedings.
