Ohio State coach body slams fan on field
Wednesday October 1st, 2014

The Ohio State fan who ran on the field during last Saturday's game against Cincinnati might not lose his scholarship after all.

The Associated Press initially reported that Anthony Wunder, who was body-slammed by Ohio State strength and conditioning coach Anthony Schlegel, is being removed from the Evans Scholars program because of the criminal charges, but no decision has yet been made.

Wunder is a fourth-year engineering student at Ohio State and was charged with misdemeanor criminal trespassing.

"We’re reviewing the situation,” Jeff Harrison, the organization’s senior vice president of education, said to the Chicago Tribune. “Obviously we are very disappointed, and Anthony knows he made a big mistake. We have a code of conduct that we expect the scholars to uphold. He’s a very nice and bright young man who obviously made a very big mistake."

Head coach Urban Meyer had a serious conversation with Schlegel about how he could have seriously injured the student.

"In all seriousness, I grabbed Anthony last night," Meyer said Monday. "I appreciate him protecting our players. I would rather him not have a lawsuit if something bad would happen, you drill a guy like that. So we had a partial serious conversation. And then we also gave him a Hit City Award, our team, and had a little fun with it, too."
