Notre Dame's KeiVarae Russell rips school's academic probe length

Thursday October 2nd, 2014

Notre Dame junior cornerback KeiVarae Russell ripped the school in a now-deleted Instagram post, saying it was "becoming ridiculous" that the school had not made a decision concerning its investigation over academic fraud.

Russell is one of five suspended players as a result of the school’s investigation. Receiver DaVaris Daniels, linebacker Kendall Moore, defensive end Ishaq Williams, and safety Eilar Hardy are the other players suspended by the school. Davis’ hearing is scheduled for Friday.

“I killed my meeting; I was so prepared and ready and was able to refute damn near every suspicion they had," Russell said in the post, according to the Chicago Tribune.

"Described details of assignments thoroughly so they couldn't say I didn't do it," the post said. "AND THEY STILL SAID MY DECISION WONT COME UNTIL ALL 5 OF US (and some other minor hearings) ARE DONE. Decision MIGHT come next week, not even 100% it's tough to understand these people."

Notre Dame announced in August that players were being held from practice while they investigated alleged academic misconduct, but they have been allowed back into the football complex and are attending classes. If found guilty of misconduct, the players could be dismissed from the school.

Russell had 51 total tackles and one interception last season for the Irish.
