Texas has fired wide receivers coach Les Koenning and tight end coach Bruce Chambers.

Texas announced that it has fired wide receivers coach Les Koenning and long-time tight ends coach Bruce Chambers, according to David Ubben of Fox Sports. 247Sports' Bobby Burton first reported the news.

Koenning was in his first season as the Longhorns' receivers coach after spending five years as the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at Mississippi State. He has also served as the OC at Texas A&M and as an assistant at multiple other schools.

Chambers had been the tight ends' coach at Texas since 2003 and served as the Longhorns' running backs coach from 1998-2002. 

Texas went 6-7 in its first season under Charlie Strong, losing to Arkansas 31-7 in the Texas Bowl on Monday.

The Longhorns averaged 21.4 points per game in 2014, which ranked 109th in FBS and ninth in the Big 12.
