Former UAB running back Jordan Howard transferring to Indiana
As a sophomore at UAB last season, Howard carried 306 times for 1,587 yards and 13 touchdowns. He rushed for at least 100 yards eight times and his average of 132.3 rushing yards per game ranked seventh nationally.
Like other former UAB players transferring to FBS programs, Howard will be eligible to play for Indiana right away after the Blazers disbanded their football program.
Indiana ranked second in the Big Ten in rushing yards per play this season.
"As our season ended, we thought it was likely Tevin Coleman was headed to the NFL," Indiana coach Kevin Wilson said. "Jordan instantly became our top target. What happened at UAB is unfortunate for Jordan, his teammates and everyone involved with the program, but this is a perfect match for both sides. We recruited him very, very hard and we are excited he is joining us. The sign of a good program is finding good players to replace good players, and we have done just that."
