Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones and tight end Nick Vannett connected for a one-yard touchdown in the first quarter of Monday night's College Football Playoff national championship game.

Lined up in the shotgun, Jones received the snap, faked a handoff to running back Ezekiel Elliot and found Vannett near the goal line. The junior tight end caught the pass and fell into the end zone.

The score capped a five-play drive and put the Buckeyes up, 14-7. Earlier in the quarter, Elliot ripped off a 33-yard touchdown run to tie the game at seven.
