Report: Oregon, Mark Helfrich agree to multi-year extension
Monday February 9th, 2015

Oregon head coach Mark Helfrich has signed a new five-year, $17.5 million contract, FOX Sports' Bruce Feldman reported

The $3.5 million average annual value of the contract would be nearly double the $1.8 million Helfrich makes per year under his current contract. It would also match what former Oregon coach Chip Kelly was making before he left for the NFL.

When Helfrich was hired in 2013, he was the seventh-highest paid coach in the Pac-12.

Helfrich, 41, is 24-4 in two seasons as the Ducks' head coach. He led the team to the national championship game this season but lost to Ohio State

From 2009 to 2012, Helfrich was Oregon's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Feldman also reports that Oregon's board of trustees has approved a new six-year contract for athletic director Rob Mullens. Mullens has held that position since July 2015 after serving as deputy AD at Kentucky.
