LSU coach Les Miles said after the Tigers' spring game on Saturday that freshman defensive tackle Travonte Valentine is suspended.
Valentine did not participate in LSU's spring practices. He joined the team in the fall when his academic transcript was approved by the NCAA, but he was later prevented from practicing with the team when the SEC halted his eligibility to determine his records.
"Travonte Valentine is currently suspended from play," Miles said in his press conference after the spring game. "We've instructed him to go to this school, go to class, take care your business. If he does that and handles behavior then there will be a future for him here. Otherwise, we're not certain."
Valentine was rated a four-star prospect by Rivals.com coming out of Hialeah, Fla. He was ranked the No. 3 defensive tackle and the No. 59 prospect overall in the class of 2014.
