Syracuse has hired Boise State athletic director Mark Coyle to the same position, the school announced Friday

Coyle, 47, had been at Boise State since December 2011, following a stint as deputy AD at Kentucky. He also worked as an associate AD at Minnesota.

"Mark has an outstanding record as a director of athletics and is known throughout the country for his professional accomplishments," Syracuse chancellor Kent Syverud said in a statement. "His strong academic values and commitment to the welfare of student-athletes, combined with his record of achievement in fundraising, make him the right person to lead Syracuse University Athletics forward at this important time for the University."

Coyle replaces Daryl Gross, who resigned in March after Syracuse was hit with NCAA sanctions. As Syracuse.com points out, Coyle took over at Boise State shortly after the Broncos were placed on NCAA probation.

Coyle will be introduced on Monday and will assume his new role on July 6.
