Texas linebacker Edwin Freeman (shoulder) out 6–8 weeks
Texas redshirt freshman linebacker Edwin Freeman will miss six to eight weeks due to a shoulder injury, he told Ryan Autullo of the Austin American-Statesman. X-Rays will determine if Freeman needs surgery, he added.
Freeman has five solo tackles, two tackles for loss and a forced fumble this season.
Freeman was injured during Saturday’s game against Cal. Late in the first half, with the Bears near the goal line, Freeman went to the ground right before Cal was ready to snap the ball. Many people thought he was faking an injury to disrupt Cal’s offense.
After the game, Freeman responded to the criticism.
Funny what ppl think they know I really hurt my shoulder on the previous play was trying 2 get off the field but they told me to get down— Edwin Freeman (@EFTrey5) September 20, 2015
Texas (1–2) has nine games left this season.
