Tulane fires head coach Curtis Johnson after 3–9 campaign

Saturday November 28th, 2015

Tulane coach Curtis Johnson has been informed that he has been dismissed, according to sources.

The expected move comes the day after his team’s 45–34 home loss to Tulsa, a defeat that ended the Green Wave’s season with a 3–9 record. That includes a 1–7 mark in the American Athletic Conference.

The 54-year-old Johnson had a 15–34 record in his four seasons at Tulane. Nearly half of those wins came in 2013 when his team went 7–6 and played in the New Orleans Bowl.

Prior to Tulane, Johnson was the wide receivers coach for the NFL’s New Orleans Saints for six seasons. The Green Wave are in the process of hiring a new athletic director and could fill that position next week.
