Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg has declared for the NFL draft.
Hackenberg, seen as a potential high draft pick, announced his decision after the game, as many expected. “I don’t really know how it’s going to turn out, but all I know is...every time I had an opportunity to represent the university and the football program, I tried to do it to the best of my ability,” he told reporters, reflecting on his career. “It was an honor to be part of such a special group of guys and do something at such a special place.
Hackenberg, a junior, injured his throwing shoulder and left Saturday’s game in the second quarter. Hackenberg completed 8 of 14 passes for 139 yards with an interception.

The quarterback entered Saturday’s game with 8,318 career passing yards, 48 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in his three seasons at Penn State.
