Clemson defensive end Shaq Lawsonsaid Saturday there is a “very good chance” he plays Monday against Alabama

The Tigers are facing the Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoff national championship game.

“There's a very good chance I'll play,” Lawson said. “I'm just trying to get my knee stronger before Monday.”

Lawson left Clemson’s semifinal game against Oklahoma with a sprained MCL in his left knee. Lawsone was injured during the first quarter and initially returned to the game before sitting back down.

An All-America defender, Lawson made 54 tackles and 9 1/2 sacks during the regular season for the Tigers. The junior announced his plans to enter the 2016 NFL draft earlier this month.
