  • If the Big Ten’s best continue to beat each other up over the next month, the Big 12 could end up being the biggest winner. Here's a look at our new projections for all 39 matchups of the 2018–19 postseason.

Ohio State’s blowout loss to Purdue blew up everyone’s midseason bowl projections (and most of the SI staff’s playoff picks), sending a shockwave through college football and opening the door wider for another conference champ or possibly a one-loss Notre Dame to leave the Big Ten on the outside of the top four looking in. Of course, with the possible exception of the ACC, no conference is settled in October. But after bouncing back from a loss to Texas with a relatively routine thumping of TCU, Oklahoma seems poised to reestablish itself as a contender with one of the highest ceilings in the country. With a potential chance to avenge their only loss of the year in the Big 12 title game, the Sooners jump into the projected playoff field ahead of Week 9’s action, with their Big 12 challengers, Michigan and LSU lurking not too far behind.

Below, a look at all 39 projected bowl matchups and the updated College Football Playoff field through six weeks of the 2018 season. An asterisk (*) denotes that an at-large team is filling a spot left vacant by the conference under contract with that bowl.
