No. 12 Ball State upsets No. 5 Tennessee

No one thought Tennessee was quite like the Vols' team that won the championship last season -- but out in the first round? Ball State's Porchia Green (right) had a game-high 23 points as the Cardinals handed Pat Summitt's squad its earliest loss in the tournament -- ever. Unfortunately, Cinderella turned into a pumpkin as Ball State lost to Iowa State on Tuesday.

No. 9 Michigan State upsets No. 1 Duke

Duke coach Joanne P. McCallie brought the Blue Devils back to her old school and became the first one seed ousted in the NCAA tournament this season. Mia Johnson (21) had a game-high 17 points for the Spartans while Duke shot a dismal 26.9 percent from the floor.

No. 6 Purdue upsets No. 3 North Carolina

It may have been her first NCAA tournament, but freshman Brittany Rayburn played like anything but an underclassman. She tied senior Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton with a game-high 18 points as the Boilermakers knocked off the favored Tar Heels.

No. 7 Rutgers over No. 2 Auburn

Rutgers' sharpshooter Epiphanny Prince notched a game-high 27 points as the Scarlet Knights destroyed Auburn in the second round.

No. 1 Oklahoma holds on against No. 9 Georgia Tech

With Courtney Paris scoring only two points in the first half, sophomore point guard Danielle Robinson picked up the slack with 17 points and seven assists in a win over the Yellow Jackets.

No. 2 Baylor tops No. 7 South Dakota State

Kelli Griffin (pictured) hit a floater with .5 seconds remaining to propel the Bears into the Sweet 16 with a 60-58 win over South Dakota State.

No. 3 Louisville tops No. 6 LSU

Another perennial Final Four contender went down as Angel McCoughtry (35) and the Cardinals got one step closer to history. Louisville has never made the Elite Eight, while LSU had gone to five consecutive Final Fours.
